VA Birders,
I finally found time to go to Burke Lake, Fairfax Co., this morning
(Thursday) to look for the Red-necked Grebe, but I did not find it. I wasn't
able to stay more than about half an hour, and I scanned and scoped as much
of the lake as I could from the marina dock to the fishing pier. I found a
couple of Pied-billed Grebes, a group of several Hooded Mergansers, a small
raft of Ruddy Ducks, a Bufflehead, an immature DC Cormorant, Canada Geese,
and some Mallards, but no R-n Grebe. If anyone finds the Red-necked Grebe,
would you please post information on your sighting?
Happy Thanksgiving (belatedly) to all,
Val Kitchens
Arlington, VA
