If you want to see Redheads, there is an excellent spot in York
County bordering on Hampton. Go to the intersection of Hampton
Parkway (Rte. 134) and Big Bethel Road. Heading east on Hampton Pkw.,
go a short distance and turn right into an apartment complex called
"Belmont at York". The pond is right in front of you surrounded by
the apartments. On Saturday (Feb. l9) there were 70 -75 Redheads ...
a sight to behold! I understand that these ducks have been coming to
this same pond every winter for many years.
Also on Saturday we saw a beautiful Eurasian Widgeon at Ridgway Park
in Hampton.
This park is on the left side of Mercury Blvd. a short distance from
the intersection of Mercury and Fox Hill Road.
Good birding.
