Hello VA-Birders,
Outstanding afternoon today starting at Burke Lake in Fairfax County and
finishing at Belmont Bay at the mouth of the Occoquan River near Woodbridge.
At Burke Lake, there was a nice assortment of waterfowl including Wood Ducks
sitting on shore with a group of Mallards, two Redheads, Ruddy Ducks and a few
American Coots.
Later at Belmont Bay, there were many gulls as well as some waterfowl including
a Common Goldeneye, a flock of American Wigeon, a Greater Scaup, and others.
However, the highlight was an early Osprey actually sitting on the Osprey
platform - an amazing ending to a waterfowl-filled late afternoon. Complete
lists of both locations follow.
