Hello VA-Birders,
Today was a chilly but pleasant morning at Riverbend Park in Great Falls, with
lots of Red. I arrived at about 6:45 and stayed until about 8 AM. There was
lots of waterfowl activity, the most notable being 5 Redheads feeding with the
many Ring-necked Ducks close to shore. Also notable was one female
Red-breasted Merganser swimming by herself. Causing a stir were two
Red-shouldered Hawks calling to each other incessantly. In contrast, a small
flock of Eastern Bluebirds flew over the river from the Maryland side and
landed in a tree just behind me, a bird that is not a given at Riverbend. The
morning's list follows.
