Hello,
Nothing like bad weather to bring the birds to back yard feeders.
We had a RED WINGED BLACKBIRD; 30 plus AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES; nearly that many
CEDAR WAXWINGS coming for drinks at the pond and bird baths; RED BELLIED AND
DOWNY WOODPECKERS; usual suspects including CAROLINA WREN; TITMICE; CHICKADEES;
WHITE THROATED SPARROWS; MOURNING DOVES; CARDINALS, and the highlight of the
morning--a RED BREASTED NUTHATCH.
In addition to hoping these will all return on Monday for Feeder Watch, we are
hoping the eight to nine inches of snow in the Herndon area might bring some
additional species to our yard.
Good birding to all,
Jay and Carol Hadlock
