I got to the lake at about 3:30 on this drizzly and chilly afternoon and
found the grebe loosely associated with a small group of Ruddy Ducks
that were heading towards the far shore to the left of the marina as you
face the lake. After waiting around a half hour or so and hoping
against hope that the grebe would head my way, I lucked out when it
proceeded to do just that. I (and an intrepid fisherman at the end of
the pier) had some very nice looks at the grebe about 50 yards off the
end of and then to the left of the floating pontoon pier at the marina.
There were no other birders present.
Cheers,
Sue
