On Saturday 7/28/07 I saw a Common Raven soaring overhead as I headed
west on the Danville Expressway (US 58), where 29 splits off towards
Greensboro.  This is at the Pittsylvania County/City of Danville
border, 36 32'30"N 79 28'05"W, about a quarter mile north of the NC
border. Probably not coincidentally, the nearest quarry is about 0.3
mile away, straddling the state line, but mostly in Caswell Co., NC.

It seems that Common Ravens in the Piedmont of Virginia and NC have
almost become routine, especially near 4 lane highways and quarries.
Jeff Blalock reported a Common Raven in a different part of Danville
twice in 2003, but this may be the first report for Pittsylvania.
