Just wondering if anyone has spent anytime birding Ragged Island Wildlife
Management Area (in Suffolk - at the foot of the James River Bridge)? If so
what were your thoughts on the area, any notable birds? I've been to the site
twice, of course it was during our heat wave so bird activity was a bit
sparse-I did note a number (6-8) of clapper rails calling. There were LOTS of
dragonflies and even some diamondback terrapins.
I'm working with our Wildlife Division (they have management responsibility for
all of the Wildlife Management Areas) to try to increase non-game wildlife
activities (wildlife watching) at the site. If you're from the area and will
be birding the Ragged Island, drop me a line and I'd be happy to meet you
there.
Thanks
Steve
