I had a female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird at the feeder today. She was a bit
ragged, and one side of her head was a big black splotch with no eye visible. I
wonder if she's unable to migrate and will sick around for a while? I also had
a White-Throated Sparrow this morning, the first I have seen this fall.
My questions for the list: is there a place where I can find expected or
average dates for migration patterns? I'm curious just how "late" the hummer is
and how "early" the White-Throated is.
