Hi,
I have also had trouble reconciling with the human being's increasing
incapacity for tolerance towards birds.
In George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) , a contract was given out to a
professional Geese removal service to drive away the Canadian Geese from the
lake. I pity the students who will no longer be able to watch and enjoy the
Geese. The lake seems so barren now with out its inhabitants.
There is a little lake near the place I work. A month or so ago, a lady and her
trained dog spent a morning chasing off the Canadian Geese from the lake.
Luckily for me, the geese are back and I enjoy watching them engrossed in their
daily activities.
At the place where I live, I know some residents do not like the Geese because
of their loud calls.
In none of these three instances, I could think of a good enough strong reason
for the human to complain about.
The modern man's dream is to be able to control everything around him with a
remote control. Birds for him, are perhaps best suited behind the cages, their
calls best heard as mp3 files and their lives best learned about through the
television. Let's do away with all interaction which is inconvenient, even if
it is the slightest inconvenience.

My husband works near there and has been watching the pond for me to see
when the goslings hatch. They were the only geese at the pond along with a
single Mallard duck.
He called me this morning and said that had hatched and were walking around
in the grass, eating. He said there was also a GBH on the edge of the
water.I went down there a few hours later.. No geese to be found anywhere.
I called my husband and he said there was a state truck sitting there while
he was there and they were looking at the geese. He didn't think anything of
it.
Last week when I was there to check for the Green Heron and the Geese, some
men were mowing the grass. I saw a woman come out of one of the businesses
and talk to the men. I couldn't hear what she was saying, but she was
pointing at the goose on her eggs.
Now, after doing a little research on the net, I have come to the
realization that the geese and their goslings were trapped and killed this
morning. The meat being donated to a charity food program.
I realize that to a lot of people geese are a nuisance and a supposed health
hazard.
But this has just made me feel sick.
