Just a reminder. You can't sex female Purple Finches by sight alone. Male Purple Finches don't aquire their colorful plumage until their 2nd year. Brown Purple Finches can be either male or female.

Bob, the sex ratio of my finch flock is usually 1-2 males for every 10
females actively feeding together at one time. With their gluttoness
dining habits and some help from the other usual suspects, they have
(on more than one occasion) gone through nearly 10lbs of seed in a
day...

Hello list,
Ian:  what is the ratio, please, of males to females in your finch
flock?
I have been doing a little project with finch flocks lately and am
curious to
know. My biggest flock of Purple Finches yet is only fifteen
(3males-12
females), so I am keen to hear.
