To My Birding Friends:
On Tuesday March 12 at 7:50 am, I saw a pair of American Kestrels copulating at
the Dan River distribution building along the Dan River. This is the building
that Channel 13 in Lynchburg uses in the back ground for the news from the
Danville area with the big DAN RIVER sign on top of it.
On Friday March 22 at the foot bridge over the Dan River I found a pair of
Northern Rough-winged Swallows and an Osprey hunting along the river. At times
the Osprey was within 25 feet and just above me as it hovered looking for fish.
On March 23, I had 10 Purple Finches at my backyard feeders and they have
returned again early this morning.
