VA Birders, With two inches of snow on the ground there was lots of action at the feeders this morning. 11 PURPLE FINCHES were one of the 20 species that made an appearance setting a new feeder record. The numbers of birds increased with 34 Am. Goldfinches and 19 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS. There was even 1 BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD. I hadn't seen one of those at the feeder for a couple of months.
