I birded my usual haunts in Prince William Co. this morning, and while
the activity was not on the level of last week, the diversity was still
good and I ended up with 26 species of warbler and 111 species overall.
The hot spot was Leesylvania State Park, especially the Powell Creek
trail.  Along the trail I had a pair of summer tanagers, good numbers of
veery, wood, and Swainson's thrushes, and a single gray-cheeked thrush.
There were several nice bunches of warblers, which included magnolia
(many), blackpoll (many, many), bay-breasted (1 seen), Cape May,
yellow-rumped, redstart, black-throated blue, and black-throated green.
Also present were ovenbird, worm-eating, LA waterthrush, northern
parula, and prothonotary.  Pewees were common, as were scarlet tanager,
yellow-billed cuckoo, and acadian flycatcher.  Also in Leesylvania I
found 2 Wilson's warblers (hill and pinic area), and a palm warbler
(western subsp.).

Other notable birds during the morning were Kentucky warbler along
Cockpit Pt. Rd. in Dumfries, an adult Cooper's hawk at Metz Wetlands,
and bobwhite, American pipit, least sandpiper, lincoln's sparrow, and
savannah sparrow at Occoquan NWR.  Finally, when I got home around
11:30am, there was a pine siskin on my feeder.
