The Potomac River was active with waterfowl this warm January Saturday. The
highlight was finding 9 REDHEADS (4 males, 5 females) at the pull off on the
George Washington Parkway between Collingswood and Waynewood Rds. between 12
Noon and 1 PM.
The thirteen species of ducks I observed included all three area MERGANSERS.
Separate rafts of AMERICAN COOTS were seen at the above described pull off,
at Collingswood Park, and at Riverside Park, maybe 500 to 600 birds in total.
