Peggy Lyons and I spent the morning birding at some lakes around Lynchburg.
Two different groups of Ring-billed Gulls flew over - eight while meeting at
Waterlick Plaza & twenty while at Timberlake. We got very close-up views of a
Red-shouldered Hawk that was perched in a snag across the road when we stopped
the car to look at some sparrows at Timberlake and then a Sharp-shinned Hawk
flew by later on the other side of the lake. Most of these lakes are not
completely accessible so we may have missed some things, too. All species seen
are listed below by location. The number of species is included only for the
waterfowl.
