While birding at Leesylvania (Prince William County) this morning, Bev
Leeuwenburg, Paula Sullivan, and I came across what appeared to be two pair of
Pine Warblers singing and foraging in a mixed stand of pines and deciduous
trees along the main road right before the marina. The fact that the deciduous
trees haven't leafed out yet made the birds easy to see and identify.
There was a also a singing Chipping Sparrow in the parking lot that dopey me
initially passed off as a junco. Gotta reacquaint myself with those songs now
that it is spring!
A quick stop to Neabsco Creek yielded 7 Forster's Terns. Yes, spring is on the
way!
