After keeping niger seed in my feeders much of last fall through the winter
into spring, this rainy morning finally brought a single siskin to feeders
clogged with molting male goldfinches and up to 9 purple finches. The usual
cardinals, mourning doves, song sparrows, rb woodpeckers, downies and flickers
joined very much thinned ranks of juncos and continuing good numbers of juncos.
Male towhees have moved into the yard as our trees hit the 20 ft mark and our
hedgerow leafs out. An eastern phoebe pair is hanging around the bustle of the
feeders but aren't really interested.
