All,
I had a great morning at Phelps WMA despite the rain. When I first got
there about 7:00 there were birds everywhere and I had a hard time
sorting out the songs. I came across two large flocks of Yellow-rumped
Warblers. A first for me was finding a Black & White Warbler foraging
on the ground amongst a flock of White-throated Sparrows! There were
Hooded Warblers singing everywhere, many Prairies, many Chats and so
forth. Here's a short list of interesting birds:
Great Blue Heron
Great Crested Flycatcher
White-eyed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Wood Thrush
Brown Thrasher
Cedar Waxwing
Northern Parula
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Pine Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Ovenbird
Louisiana Waterthrush
Kentucky Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Hooded Warbler
Yellow-breasted Chat
Scarlet Tanager
