The previously mentioned two white pelicans eventually awoke, preened and
headed downstream just off the picnic area, after 10 AM this morning
(Saturday, 10/12), with good views by several birders and a sequence of
photographs by one (web URL to follow when posted).
A mid-day stop at Huntley Meadows afforded close-up "compare and contrast"
for both yellowlegs in close proximity, as well as several snipe, a solitary
sandpiper and a few pectorals. The real surprise was the glossy ibis that
flew in about 2:30 and remained visible from the raised "bridge" of the
boardwalk as well as from the platform. Jeff Fishbein, Karen Nyere and I had
good views and some photos were obtained as well.
