Hi Birders,
I just got a call from Steve Hairfield in Cape Charles. He reports there has
been an adult
male Painted Bunting coming to a feeder at the Seagaate Inn for the last 3-4
days.
The Seagate is located directly behind Sterling House at the corner of
Tazewell
and Harbor Sts. The bird has been going to a feeder, a basket kind of thing,
attached to a tree by the side of the Seagate, on the side of the house toward
the water. This feeder is visible from the sidewalk, so there's no need to
disturb
the owners. They seem to be amenable to visitors, but I'm not sure they know
what they could be in for - that is, if this snow ever stops! Steve saw the
bunting
this morning,
Steve also said the Rufous Hummer is still coming to their feeder, also. This
bird is also visible from the sidewalk. The feeder is on the left side of
the house
and the bird also hangs out in a camellia bush, which makes it hard to see.
Good birding,
