The kites were around today in numbers ranging from 1 to 4 but after about 1200
they seemed to have disappeared except for an appearance now and then.
I'm fairly certain it has something to do with the overcast day we are having.
Guessing it is either the lack of flying dragonflies/cicadas or thermals that
makes them hunker down somewhere. Where, I don't know.
So if you are still planning on coming to see them I recommend a sunnier
occasion. As always when hunting down birds, nothing is guaranteed. We've had
about 30-40 guests so far and all have been extremely polite and patient with
the non-birding residents. Your consideration is much appreciated.
As a point of interest, my court is about the highest point within a couple
mile radius and maybe that has something to do with them picking this spot to
congregate. I'm sure the river nearby and a local wetlands doesn't hurt either.
Jim
