WANT TO HELP TO WRITE A FIELD GUIDE?
The author of the forthcoming Field Guide to the Birds of Paraguay is seeking
paying volunteers to assist with field work at major sites of birding
importance in Paraguay. This is a non-profit scheme in association with Guyra
Paraguay, the Birdlife International partner, all funds raised being used to
fund further work. Field work will include a full species inventory of a single
site - censusing, mist-netting and recording of plumage/weight/ measurements
etc, side-projects on species of special conservation concern and detailed
recording of behavioural and plumage traits. In addition to collecting field
observations for the main field guide, volunteers will also actively assist in
the writing of a bilingual mini-field guide to their chosen project site.
This guide, in English and Spanish, is part of a series projected to cover all
of the major Paraguayan birding destinations being produced to promote
conservation and interest in birds in Paraguay. Projects run for a
calendar month and cost US$1600 (US$1100 for students in full-time education),
the price including all accommodation, food and transport within Paraguay, but
not flights or travel insurance. We also seek an illustrator for the guide who
as a volunteer and subject to acceptance will receive a $500 reduction on the

participating volunteers will receive an introductory pack before arrival, a
copy of the mini guide that they helped to write, a souvenir photo disc of the
project, credit for their help as a volunteer in the main field guide and the
satisfaction of knowing that they have helped contribute towards greater
understanding of the avifauna of a much neglected, little-known and beautiful

QUIERES AYUDAR A ESCRIBIR UNA GUIA DE CAMPO?
El autor de la Guía de Campo de las Aves del Paraguay (ya en preparación)
busca voluntarios que ayuden con el trabajo de campo en los lugares de mayor
importancia para observar aves en Paraguay, los mismos deberán hacer un aporte
para poder solventar los gastos del mencionado proyecto. Este es una esquema de
no ganancia propia en asociación con Guyra Paraguay (socio de Birdlife
Internacional) - toda el dinero que no sea utilizado en el proyecto servirá
para pagar gastos de otros trabajos asociados con el libro. El trabajo consiste
en censos, redes de niebla (registrando medidas, detalles de plumaje, peso
etc.), mini-proyectos concentrando en especies de amenaza y observación en el
campo registrando comportamiento y variaciones en plumaje. Además de la
compilación de observaciones para la Guía de Campo de las Aves de Paraguay, los
voluntarios asistirán activamente con la escritura de una mini-guía de campo
bilingüe de su sitio de proyecto. Esta guía, en Inglés y Español
será parte de una serie que, una vez completo, cubrirá todos los destinos mas
importantes para aves en Paraguay, con la misión de generar interés en la
conservación las aves del país, y promover Paraguay como un destino atractivo
para el ecoturismo. Los proyectos duran un mes calendario (Ej. 27 Octubre- 27
Noviembre) y cuestan US$1600 por persona, este precio incluye alojamientos,
comida y transporte dentro de Paraguay, pero no así el transporte a Paraguay
(vuelos internacionales) ni seguro de viaje. Para mas información usted puede

ayuda en la Guía de Campo de las Aves de Paraguay y la satisfacción de saber
que han contribuido al conocimiento de la avifauna de un
