Four ospreys were back at nesting sites at Occoquan NWR this morning, including
one busily at work bringing sticks into the nest. Other birds at the refuge
this morning included, among other things, Red-necked Grebe, Canvasbacks,
Redheads, Am. Goldeneye, all three merganser species, Green-wing Teal, Coopers
Hawk, Northern Harrier, Greater Yellowlegs, D-C Cormorant, Woodcock, Savannah
Sparrow & Am. Tree Sparrow. Plus one Red Fox.
Occoquan NWR is located in Woodbridge, VA, at the east end of Dawson Beach
Road. It is open to the general public Thursday through Sunday, beginning at 7
am.
