[va-bird] Orange-crowned Warbler in Norfolk

Last year no Orange-crowned Warbler spent much of the late fall at my house
in Norfolk after a run of five years in a row of having one hang out at my
feeders. Today, an Orange-crowned Warbler appeared in my red oak along with an
immature female Black-and-white Warbler and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. The heavy
nor'easter today has driven many birds into our feeders, so I was watching the
feeders carefully. The arrival of the Orange-crown is right on schedule with
the previous five years showing arrival dates between November 15 and 27. If
this bird follows the pattern of those five years, it will hang around until
the first two weeks of January, primarily visiting our suet feeder.
David Clark, also here in Norfolk, told me yesterday that his Wilson's
Warbler is still visiting his yard. Perhaps this bodes well for the upcoming
Christmas Bird Counts.

Cheers,
Bob
