I spent about three hours birding the northeastern quarter of Occoquan Bay NWR. Highlights were a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, AM. TREE SPARROWS, and 5 BALD EAGLES. The yellowthroat and ATSPs were just to the southeast of the gate at Bravo and Taylor Point Roads. The list: Double-crested Cormorant - 2 Canada Goose - 12 Mallard - 6 Am. Flicker - 11 Pileated Woodpecker Blue Jay - 6 Am. Crow - 4 Fish Crow - 4 Tufted Titmouse - 2 Carolina Wren - 17 Golden-crowned Kinglet - 6 E. Bluebird - 3 N. Mockingbird - 3 European Starling - 23 Common Yellowthroat N. Cardinal - 28 E. Towhee - 2 Am. Tree Sparrow - 3 Field Sparrow - 13 White-throated Sparrow - 32 Song Sparrow - 47 Swamp Sparrow - 5 Dark-eyed Junco - 2 Red-winged Blackbird - 7 Am.
