[va-bird] Occoquan Bay NWR

Hi Birders..
I have business that takes me Occoquan village on Sat. and would like to
visit the Occoquan Bay NWR. Never been there before and would like to
photograph some interesting birds. I would particularly like to see some
Wood Ducks amongst other birds that we don't normally run across here in New
Kent. A Horned Grebe would be nice :)
Any pointers on where to go? Would we have to worry about hunters in the
area? and also, are dogs allowed? We normally leave the dog in the car for
short periods when birding, but will sometimes bring him on leash with us.
Any tips would be appreciated..
Here's a couple of photo links you might like. My husband finally was able
to get a few quick photos of the Pileated Woodpecker that has been eating
our house. That bird has evaded us for months. He tears apart our window
frames and then laughs at us from the woods. You all know that sound :)

And we got a nice co-operative RSH on Sunday. He posed patiently for the
camera.
