Dear teen birders,
Two field trips for northern Virginia teens (aged
13-18) are scheduled for November and December.
The first will be this coming Saturday Nov 8 from
12:30 to 4:30 PM. The location of the field trip
will be determined based on feedback I get from
interested teens and from the postings on VA-Bird
this week.
The second field trip is scheduled for Saturday
Dec 6 when we will participate in Fairfax
Audubon's Northern Virginia Waterfowl Survey.
This field trip will run in two segments.
Students may attend one, the other or both. The
morning session will run from 7 AM to 11:30 AM
and will probably cover lakes in the Burke area.
The PM session will run from 12:30 to about 5:30.
All field trips will depart from and return to
Flint Hill School West Campus at 3320 Jermantown
Rd, Oakton (Fairfax County). We will travel by
school minibus.
Please call or e-mail Mr. Fred Atwood (see
below)if you are a teen interested in attending
either field trip. Mr. Atwood is also eager to
hear from teens who have ideas on what the teen
bird club should do, or who want to be on the
ledaership team for this club.
Directions: Take route 66 to exit 60 exiting on
the ramp towards Vienna and Oakton (not Fairfax).
Turn left at 2nd light (1/4 mile) onto Jermantown
Rd. Go about 1 mile through one traffic light
and turn right into the Flint Hill Upper School
Campus.
