[va-bird] Northern Virginia Bird Club at Occoquan Bay NWR, Prince Wm. Co.

Six birders, undaunted by something less than ideal May weather, found
the birding at Occoquan Bay better than expected this morning. Among
the 67 species were a Red-necked Grebe, scaup, and Ruddy Ducks still
hanging on in the bay. Most other species were typical summer
residents, but a big push of Blackpolls was evident, and a singing
Northern Waterthrush was a delight to hear. Ospreys, Yellow Warblers,
Common Yellowthroats, Prothonotaries, and Field Sparrows should be
producing lots of young at Occoquan this season. Thanks to Sonia Santa
Anna for co-leading with me.
