Found a pair of NORTHERN SHOVELER at Kingstowne Lake this afternoon. For
pictures, see
http://www.pbase.com/bb_etc/kingstowne

There were also COMMON MERGANSER, HOODED MERGANSER, one male BUFFLEHEAD, and
lots of RING-NECKED DUCKS, CANADA GEESE, MALLARDS (including a hybrid),
RING-BILLED GULLS, sparrows (including WHITE-THROATED), AMERICAN CROWS,
NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS, and a NORTHERN CARDINAL.

I've added a link to a Google map for the Kingstowne Lake location to the
front page of this gallery (above URL). Just to clarify something for people
from other parts of the state, although Alexandria is an incorporated City
and not part of any county, some parts of Fairfax County have Alexandria
mailing addresses...thanks to the USPS.
