Standing with scope and enthusiasm at the elevated portion of the boardwalk
at Huntley on Sunday, we did manage to miss the very well hidden phalarope.
Perhaps he was dining elsewhere due to the number of human children heard...
Thanks to the very observant and quieter children, however, we were treated
to high numbers of wood duck babies in the mudflats, which are no longer mud
and very nice for swimming ducks.
Great blue, American Egret, Blue-grey gnatcatcher, Phoebe, CGz, Mallards,
Barn swallows, NRWs, RWBs scooping up dragonflies in flight, and others helped
us
to enjoy a grey but pleasant visit.
