Va Birders
I had planned to stay out of this discussion because I understand so
little about the technology, but Yahoo is my least favorite option for a
listserve and I really hope Va-bird doesn't end up there. Yahoo apparently
engages in some dubious practices regarding privacy, e.g. cookies and web
beacons. I couldn't find the article that alerted me to this, but these
are links from the article.

I don't know what a web beacon is and I'm not going to spend one second
figuring it out. Nor am I going to try to opt out of every new trick they
come up with. I'm just not going to register with Yahoo, ever.
I've been to dozens of listserves and archives over the last few years and
Yahoo is the only one, as I recall, that has messages surrounded by ads;
flashing, irritating, obnoxious ads. No thanks.
Now, if anyone finds a Buff-breasted Sandpiper I'd appreciate it if you'd
post to Va-bird right away :-)
Good birding, let's hope some new fall vagrants show up!
