VA BIRDers,

meeting up with the intrepid Laura Catterton. A fine showing of migrants were
noted:

We sped off to the ridge along Thompson's WMA (Freezeland Rd) in Fauquier Co.
to the Catbird Heaven area. It was late in the morning (after 1030) but we
still managed to find a few migrants:
Common Nighthawk 1, on a limb about 30 feet above the road, prob. juv given
the lack of rufous - an outstanding daytime look at a night bird!
Blue-headed V 1, singing a few times but it showed itself briefly
Red-eyed V 2
Blue Jay 3
Com. Raven 2
Wood Thrush 1, peering out between poison ivy leaves
Gray Catbird 3
Nashville 1
Magnolia 6
Cape May 1, adult female
Black-thr Blue 2
Black-thr Green 5
Am. Redstart 1
Hooded 1, juv

We then moved onto Sky Meadows looking for a few afternoon hawks and
passerines. Highlights were:
Osprey 1
Bald Eagle 2, adults

Sharp-shinned 1
Cooper's 2
Red-tailed 1
Am Kestrel 1
