VA Birders,
Pat Blyer, Betty Kilgore, Lori Keeler, and I went to look for the
Northern Lapwing in Frederick Co., MD, this morning without any luck. We
arrived at
both spots mentioned by Sue Heath in her post to find birders looking for this
bird, but noone looking at it! Apparently the Lapwing was last seen
yesterday (Tuesday) morning, and in spite of diligent watching and searching
yesterday
afternoon until dark and this morning from dawn on, it had not been refound
when we left a little before noon.
We decided to drive down Rt. 15 to Montressor Road and Lucketts in
Loudoun Co. on the way home, but our luck did not improve there! We did not
find
the Loggerhead Shrike or much else previously reported on Montressor Road or
the
part of Lucketts we checked before we gave up because of the rain and went to
lunch. However, on Montressor Road we talked to 2 men who had also come down
there after looking for the Lapwing, and they gave us the report that the
bird had not been seen since yesterday morning.
