I thought I'd see what was going on at the New York Monuments by Manassas
Battlefield this morning. I arrived at 7:10 and started seeing migrants
immediately. The list for the morning is as seen: Black and White Warbler,
Blackburnian Warbler, Black Throated Green Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Canada
Warbler,
Worm Eating Warbler, Blue Winged Warbler, Comon Yellowthroat, Pine Warbler,
American Redstart, Scarlet Tanager, Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastrern Phoebe,
Baltimore Oriole, plus lots of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Yellow-billed Cuckoos,
Catbirds, Brown Thrashers, one Piliated Woodpecker, a flock of at least 20
BlueJays, and 100+ Robins. The strangest thing I saw was a great view of a
Yellow
Billed Cuckoo that had what looked like a breast feather and was blowing it up
in the air about 6" or so above it and catching it in its mouth as it came down
and then blowing it up and catching it again. It did this about 10 times
before it got distracted and flew off. I've never seen this before. Dave White
