For several weeks I have been seeing a Red-headed Woodpecker going in an out of
a hole at the top of a snag in the grove I have mentioned east of White Hall in
Albemarle Co. While I usually see the second bird around and about, today I
saw a third bird. There is no sign of young yet. I hope all is well in there.
Evidently the male does all the nighttime incubating and brooding. He also
excavates or selects the nest hole.
