Hello Birders,
I arrived at NY Monuments at Manassas Battlefield today at about 6:30 a.m.
Nobody else was there, but I realized as I was leaving why that might be.
There was a jackknifed truck across 29 not far from the entrance, and police
had blocked the entire road leading to the Monuments. Looks like I made it in
just in time.
Anyway, if anybody was blocked from getting thru, you really didn't miss much.
Migrant activity was down from past weeks (and last week was also slow).
Highlights were a flock of at least 56 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, an impressive sight,
near the entrance, a few WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS foraging in the shrubs, and
GOLDEN-CROWNED and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS. Also impressive was a flock of 27
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS near the entrance in the treetops as well as on the
ground. The complete list follows.
