VA Birders,
Today, eleven birders came out for a Northern Virginia Bird Club trip to
Riverbend Park led by Joanna Taylor and me. Of the 32 species seen, the best
sightings were probably in the meadow where we saw a Brown Thrasher, Eastern
Towhees and a couple of groups of Purple Finches. Down by the river near the
Visitor's Center we saw Ring-necked Ducks, Buffleheads and Common Mergansers.
We were all happy that the rain held off until we had finished the walk.
