[va-bird] NVBC Sky Meadows Trip / 2-25-06

Six birders braved chilly morning temperatures and breezy conditions at the
Northern Va Bird Club's field trip to Sky Meadows State Pk. this morning.
Fortunately, the skies cleared up, the sun came out, and the temperature rose
as the morning went on. As usual at Sky Meadows, the main feature was the
Park's colony of Red-headed Woodpeckers -- one was at the main parking lot to
meet us when the park opened, with plenty more along the road to the group
campground. Signs of the approaching spring were on view in the form of mating
Am. Kestrels -- hopefully, they will bring off another successful brood this
year in the nest box behind the visitor center. Common Ravens & Red-tailed
Hawks also appeared to be pairing off. A few Am. Tree Sparrows were mixed in
with the sparrow flocks. The complete list follows below
