OK, I can admit it when Im wrong. Despite my post of last night, migration
is not over. Well, I may have been right about the mourning warbler already
being gone. That one may have. But if so, he was replaced by at least two,
and probably three others.
The first was a strongly singing but poorly seen male, by the Rollins Dr.
entrance to the park (in the tangle to the right before you ford the
stream). A few minutes later I got good looks at an apparent female
(absolutely no black) along the fence line heading towards Coventry. And 10
minutes later I got excellent looks at a strongly singing male (with a
well-defined black crescent and black lores) right be the Devonshire Rd.
entrance. While this could have been the same bird as the first, I think it
equally likely it was a different bird. I recorded the songs of both males
and got some crappy video of the last.
These entrances to the park are both in ADC map 24, E12. Maybe I can get a
mourning warbler on the Mall at lunch. After all, they are rapidly becoming
trash birds . . . .
