I finally was able to get out and do some birding in and around =
Rockbridge County. Even though the weather way yucky, there were a lot =
of birds. Here are the highlights.
Saturday: Northern Rockbridge Co - McCormick's Farm, Willow Lake and =
farm land
Gadwall, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Blue-headed Vireo, White-throated =
Sparrow, Ruddy Ducks, Pied-billed Grebes, Lesser Scaups, Tree Swallows =
(a flock of about 30 swooping over Willow Lake), Coots, Field Sparrows.
Sunday: Southern Rockbridge Co., the James River at the Appalachian =
Trail, and the AT at MP 51 of the BRP.
Golden-crowned Kinglets, Juncos, Blue-headed Vireo, Phoebe, =
White-throated Sparrows, Ruby-crowned Kinglets (20-30 individuals), =
Rufous-sided Towhee
In addition, there were the usual suspects: cardinals, chickadees, =
wh-br. nuthatches, hairy WP, downy WP, pileated WP
