I did some early evening birding along Montresor Road a half dozen times in
the last two weeks, since it's close to my route home from work. I usually
park by "the gate", by the driveway-cut across and slightly west of
Montresor Farm.
Besides the usual Starlings, Mockers, and Blackbirds, I heard (and
conversed with) several Norther Bobwhites, and later inadvertantly flush a
pair as I was driving away. An immature male Orchard Oriole has reliably
been seen in the trees around te gate. A Cape May Warbler resting on the
wires on his trip north. A pair of Eastern kingbirds is nesting in the
trees directly opposite the gate. A Cedar Waxwing was seen last week
(curiously solo) and today in a flock of 10. And best of all, I got this
my first 2004 Bald Eagle calmly gliding high across the field with two
Crows chasing him.
