[va-bird] Re: Monticello Park, Alexandria

All,

To add to Paula's Monticello list, a (f) Bay-breasted Warbler and a Black-and-white Warbler were also seen at Monticello today. The Bay- breasted was seen by a number of birders, including me.

Also, a photographer in the park reportedly photographed what he thought was a Blue-winged warbler. I understand another birder has suggested that this bird may actually have been a Golden-winged Warbler. I did not see the bird at issue, but I have written the photographer asking for a copy of the photograph, which is supposed to be forthcoming.

For now, I'll post the bird as being a Blue-winged Warbler, since this what the photographer believes he photographed. I will amend this post if necessary.

19 warbler species were seen at Monticello today. I know of four birders who picked up Mourning Warbler as a life-bird today. Someone birding Monticello remarked that he had been over to Rock Creek Park earlier today, where 15 warbler species were reportedly seen.

more to go?
