All, I spent a couple hours at Monticello Park in Alexandria this morning. Despite the fact that it's May 26, there were plenty of birds around including at least one Mourning Warbler and possibly two. There was one seen at the lower end of the park and another seen at the upper end of the park about 30 minutes apart. I think it was probably two different birds, but you can't be sure I guess. Other birds seen and/or heard in the order that I remember them (!): Blackburnian Warbler (one) Common Yellowthroat Tennessee Warbler (one, missed my me unfortunately) Canada Warbler (a lot!) Wilson's Warbler (I saw a female but later heard one sing so there must have been a male) Black and White Warbler Ovenbird Northern Parula Chestnut-sided Warbler (at least six) Black-throated Blue Warbler Magnolia Warbler Blackpoll American Redstart Scarlet Tanager Swainson's Thrush Acadian Flycatcher Blue Grosbeak and probably some other stuff that I forgot!
