The F Mourning Warbler was observed midstream early this morning. This was
an unobstructed view. Who knows how long this bird will be around, but it was
a very nice bird to see. Male Mourning Warbler(s) were present at Monticello
yesterday. To my knowledge, none have yet been reported today.
Please remember to show some common sense restraint while in the park.
Recently, a birder was doing screech owl vocalizations in an effort to force a
male Mourning Warbler up by any means necessary. The fact that other birders
were working birds up and down the trail at this same time, and, more
importantly, that local breeders are trying to breed about now seemed not to
be very
important to this individual. Monticello is a very small venue, and this kind
of birding buffoonery is hardly ever helpful, appreciated, or even necessary.
