[va-bird] Re: Monday Morning Birdwalk at Huntley Meadows Park, 01/27/03

Two intrepid birders, Don Mauchline and Harry Glasgow, braved the very cold
weather this morning, 1/27/2003, to count the birds on the Monday Morning
Birdwalk at Huntley Meadows Park from 0700 to 0900. The central pond was
completely frozen; only a small trickle of flowing water was seen at the
beaver dam. Twenty-two species were observed.

Directions to Huntley Meadows Park: Take Beltway Exit 1 (Richmond Highway,
Route 1)south approximately 3.5 miles to Lockheed Boulevard. Turn right on
Lockheed Boulevard and proceed about 0.5 miles to the intersection of
Harrison Lane and the Park entrance is on the left.

The Monday Morning Birdwalks are regularly scheduled from 0700 to 0900 on
Monday mornings and are open to the Public. It is a rare day when these
walks do not occur; this morning being an example of the extremes with which
the tradition is continued.
