Yesterday. 5/13/07, I was driving west bound on Route 50 through the
City of Fairfax. I was stopped at a red light near the Outback
Steakhouse when out of the corner of my eye I saw two largeish birds
flying. I looked up in time to gather enough information and process it
to come to the conclusion that I just watched 2 Mississippi Kites fly
over! Good stuff. Seems that these birds really are on the increase in
our area.
The previous night I saw a lone Common Nighthawk flyover my house, in
Fairfax City also.
Keep those eyes on the skies.
Also I posted a video of a Blue Grosbeak singing to my blog if you are
interested. I find that actually watching a bird sing is the best way to
learn their songs.
