I hadn't reported this before as I thought it was a one-time event, but a
Barred Owl has been hanging around the beginning of the boardwalk to the
left as you enter, often just a few feet off the ground and quite near to
the boardwalk, and pretty late in the morning (11:00ish). He always seems
to be hunting (i.e. looking down).
Also, the Mississippi Kite was seen this morning and as late as 11:30
a.m. flying pretty low just beyond the tower. The white patches on its
wings were very evident, and I noticed for the first time how he/she
maneuvers his tail like a rudder (or maybe it was just the wind blowing
it that way?)
