I got about 2 hours of birding in this morning along Possum Pt. and Cockpit Pt.
Rds in Dumfries and came away with about 70 species before it started to rain.
Highlights were both summer and scarlet tanagers, orchard oriole, 10 warbler
species (black and white, worm-eating, yellow-rumped (100+), yellow-throated,
pine, prairie, northern parula, ovenbird, La. waterthrush, com. yellowthroat),
blue-headed, white-eyed, and red-eyed vireos, eastern kingbird, indigo bunting,
barred owl, least sandpiper, lesser yellowlegs, com. snipe, tundra swan, hermit
thrush, purple finch, and both kinglets. I also saw 8 or 9 eagles, including 6
immatures sitting together along Quantico Creek.
