VA Birders,
Next weekend is the big one. We in the Buchanan County Bird Club are excited
about having all 131 of you birding in our area. Here are a couple of
suggestions that may help make your experience wtih us more enjoyable:
1. Those planning to go on the field trips which require some travel by car,
including Early Birding, Birch Knob, or Beaver Knob field trips may want to
bring the small, hand-held radios (the type sold at Walmart) if you have them.
Each of the field trip leaders will have one, and this will allow the leader to
keep in touch with everyone.
2. Those planning to participate in the owling on Friday night may want to
bring a flashlight to help get around during the walk. Field trip leaders will
have one.
3. Of course we are hoping for good weather but just in case of rain you may
want to have a rain parka and appropriate footwear.
The mountains have turned to a fresh spring green, and the birds are singing
their hearts out. I found two more Cerulean Warblers yesterday. Drive carefully
on your way and enjoy the scenery.
